German automaker BMW reclaimed its top spot as the most popular foreign auto brand here after it temporarily relinquished the top spot to Volkswagen late last year.
BMW came first again as it sold 711 units of its BMW 520d and the Volkswagen Tiguan came in second with 652 units followed by the Audi A6 2.0 TDI with 504 units.
Sales of imports stood at 17,803 units in June, according to Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association, marking a new monthly record. During the first six months of this year, 94,263 foreign cars were sold in the country, up 26.5 percent from a year earlier.
At this pace, total sales of imported cars for the year will likely exceed 190,000-200,000 units.
