Korean builders won a record US$37.5 billion worth of overseas orders in the first half of this year, up 22 percent from a year earlier, as Hyundai Engineering and Construction recently signed a $4.84 billion deal from Venezuela.
A consortium led by Hyundai affiliates and China's Wison Engineering reached a deal to expand and modernize facilities at a refinery at Puerto La Cruz, about 250 km east of Caracas, the Venezuelan capital.
Given the pace of growth, it is expected that Korean builders will reach this year's target of $70 billion in overseas orders.
