France has reached the World Cup football quarterfinals in Brazil with a 2-0 win over Nigeria.
Similar to other matches in the knockout stage, Monday's game in Brasilia was not decided until late in the game. Paul Pogba scored on a header off a corner kick in the 79th minute to break a scoreless deadlock and give France the lead.
In stoppage time action at the end of the regulation 90 minutes, Nigerian Joseph Yobo accidentally knocked the ball into his own goal to give France its second goal in the 2-0 victory.
In the quarterfinals, France will face the winner of the Germany-Algeria game being played late Monday in Porto Alegre.
