Gov't to Build Ferry Disaster Memorial

The government wants to build a monument and memorial park in honor of the victims of the April 16 ferry disaster, Prime Minister Chung Hong-won said Sunday.

In a meeting on Sunday afternoon, Chung said, "We will designate April 16 as a national memorial day so that the country never forgets about the tragedy."

"We'll build a monument and memorial park in Jindo, North Jeolla Province [where the accident took place] to remember all the victims and teach the public about the importance of safety," he added.
