Jin Air will become the nation's first budget airline to fly long-haul international routes. The first destination will likely be Honolulu, Hawaii.
In a press event on Friday marking the airline's sixth anniversary, President Ma Won said that Jin Air plans to buy a B777-200ER passenger jet by the end of this year and another two next year.
The jets can fly up to 14,400 km, enough for routes to New York, Paris or Sydney non-stop.
"We plan to offer flights to Hong Kong or Guam first and add more long-distance routes to Hawaii or elsewhere from sometime next year," Ma said.
