Oriental Brewery to Break into Chinese Beer Market

Oriental Brewery will begin exporting its flagship beer Cass to China from the second half of this year by using the sales network of its parent company Anheuser-Busch InBev.

AB InBev, the world's largest brewer, acquired OB back in January some five years after it sold it to KKR and Affinity in 2009.

"AB InBev is producing Harbin and Sedrin, which are the third and fourth largest beer brands in the Chinese market," OB CEO Jang In-soo said on Thursday. "If we take advantage of this network, we think we can fare well in China."

OB is already exporting US$150 million worth of beer to Hong Kong and Japan each year.
