Korea drew 1-1 against Russia in their opening match in Group H in the World Cup in Brazil on Wednesday.

Lee Keun-ho scored Korea's first goal in his first appearance at the quadrennial event.

After the first half ended 0-0, Lee intercepted the ball from a Russian player to find the back of the net in the 68th minute.

But victory slipped from Korea's grasp as substitute Aleksandr Kerzhakov put Russia back in the game with the equalizer only six minutes later.

Korea gained one point for the tie and will square off against Algeria on Sunday and Belgium on Thursday. Currently, Belgium leads the group after a 2-1 win against Algeria earlier the same day.
