Availability of part-time jobs has decreased in the wake of the April 16 ferry disaster, according to part-time job portal Alba. Four in 10 noted the downturn in a survey of 2,455 members of the portal on June 3-16.
Some 9.7 percent, or 238 respondents, said they lost current part-time work or offers for future work after the ferry sinking. Those in the service industry, such as models and event staff, were hardest hit at 64.1 percent, followed by store clerks (12.8 percent), and waiters and kitchen hands (12.2 percent).
Some 953 respondents (38.8 percent) said they were having trouble in the job market, more than two times those who did not notice significant changes (371 respondents).
