Samsung Strives for More Inclusive Hiring Policy

      Women and graduates of universities outside Seoul each accounted for some 30 percent of new employees in the Samsung Group so far this year, it said Monday.

      The conglomerate hired around 4,000 out of 100,000 applicants who sat a written test in 85 locations across Korea, Los Angeles, New York and Toronto.

      A Samsung spokesman said, "Our goal was to fill 35 percent of new positions with graduates of universities outside Seoul and 30 percent with female applicants." There is also a five-percent quota for applicants from low-income families.

      The conglomerate plans to hire around 9,000 new workers this year, the same as last year.
