President Park Geun-hye on Thursday appointed Minister of Gender Equality and Family Cho Yoon-sun as her new senior secretary for political affairs.
She also nominated Saenuri Party lawmaker An Chong-bum as senior presidential secretary for economic affairs, and Kim Young-han, a former senior prosecutor, as senior presidential affairs for civil affairs.
Song Kwang-yong, former president of Seoul National University of Education, is to become senior presidential affairs for education and culture.
Including Yoon Doo-hyun, who became senior presidential secretary for public relations last Sunday, five of the nine will have been replaced.
The aim of the reshuffle is to tighten Park's hold after the April 16 ferry disaster, which has badly shaken her government.
She is also expected to carry out a substantial shakeup of the Cabinet.
