UN Chief Hosts Korean Dinner

      UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon held a dinner party at the world body's headquarters in New York on Tuesday night to promote Korean cuisine.

      Ban told around 300 diplomats and their families that just as different European wineries produce their own distinctive flavors, so each Korean household has its own unique way of preparing kimchi, the spicy dish of fermented vegetables.

      Citing five famously healthy foods from around the world -- olives, yogurt, soybeans and green beans -- and asked guests to shout out one more, and they replied in unison: "Kimchi."

      Oh Joon, Korea's ambassador to the UN, told guests that Ban celebrates his 70th birthday on Friday, and Ban was presented with a birthday cake.
