Two people who averted disaster with their brave and timely response in an arson attack on a subway train at Dogok Station on May 28 will receive official commendations from the National Emergency Management Agency.
Kwon Soon-joong (47), a Seoul Metro staffer, and Lee Chang-young (75) acted quickly to put out the flames and subdue the perpetrator identified as Cho (71).
Their actions allowed for all 370 passengers on the train to escape safely. The award ceremony will take place on Monday.
