North Korea has detained another U.S. citizen. The official [North] Korean Central News Agency on Friday said Jeffrey Edwards Fowle is being investigated after being caught placing a bible in his hotel room.
Fowle is the third U.S. citizen to be detained by the North. The two others are 24-year-old Matthew Todd Miller, who was arrested in April after ripping up his visa at immigration and demanding asylum, and Kenneth Bae, an evangelical missionary of Korean extraction.
The North takes a dim view of missionary activity, which is lumped under crimes against the state and often associated with assistance to defectors.
