Ferry Owner 'Hiding Near Coast'

Yoo Byung-eon, the fugitive de facto owner of ferry operator Chonghaejin Marine, is believed to be hiding on the coast after escaping investigators as they closed in on his hideout in Suncheon, South Jeolla Province.

According to the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office on Sunday, Yoo and a supporter have been moving along the port cities of Mokpo, Haenam, Wando and Muan. Investigators are scrutinizing CCTV footage of the major ports there.

On Sunday, prosecutors raided a farm in Haenam, South Jeolla Province run by a follower of Yoo's cult and a nearby salt warehouse that belongs to the fugitive. They believe he is hiding out in one of his properties in the region in the hope of escaping by boat.

Meanwhile, prosecutors arrested another five followers of Yoo's sect on charges of aiding his escape.
