Arrest Warrants Sought in Shipping Corruption Probe

Investigators at Busan District Prosecutors Office probing corruption in the shipping industry and Korean Register of Shipping have asked for an arrest warrant for an official at KR identified by his surname Kim (52).

Kim is suspected of bribing officials of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries by taking them to hostess bars, paying their golf club fees and giving them gift vouchers worth W12 million (US$1=W1,022).

Prosecutors also requested an arrest warrant for a couple of officials for receiving bribes from a shipping company.
