The new version of Hyundai's Sonata, a mid-sized sedan, is attracting more young consumers compared to older models.
"Since launching in March we have sold 12,000 units of the LF Sonata until recently. About 21 percent of our customers were in their 30s," Hyundai Motor said on Sunday.
Those in their 40s and 50s made up slightly less than a quarter of total sales each while 20-something customers accounted for 6 percent.
For the previous model, the YF Sonata, buyers in their 30s represented 17 percent of sales and those in their 20s just 3 percent.
Hyundai said, "As the Sonata has become one of the most familiar cars in Korea, with accumulated sales of 6.8 million since it was first released in 1985, more young people are buying it as they start their careers."
