Unseasonally warm weather has put the southwest of Korea ahead of the fashion curve this year.
According to analysis by iSTYLE 24 of products sold on the website on April 1-8, summer clothing including sleeveless shirts and shorts accounted for 57 percent of total clothing sales in South Jeolla Province.
The figure far surpasses the 39 percent for South Gyeongsang Province and the 26 percent for the Seoul metropolitan area.
In the southwestern city of Gwangju, the day's high rose to above 20 degrees Celsius, up some two degrees compared to previous years on average.
In Seoul, trench coats and jackets are still selling steadily, but the south is already gearing up for summer, with shorts and three-quarter-length pants accounting for 40 percent of total pants sales.
