A man in his early 20s in North Gyeongsang Province has been arrested for his suspected involvement in the death of his 28-month-old son.

Police say the man, identified only by his family name Cheong, came home in March to discover his neglected son's dead body. They claim he hid the body on the veranda of his apartment complex for more than three weeks before disposing of it over the weekend in a trash bag.

Cheong reportedly separated from his wife in February and has barely returned home since then, spending most of his time at Internet cafes.

The exact cause of the toddler's death is currently under investigation, but authorities plan to file murder charges against the father.
