Derailed Subway Train Frustrates Commuters with Long Delays

A subway train derailed on Line No.4 in Seoul early Thursday morning causing long delays between Seoul Station and Sadang Station.

According to the KORAIL, a train heading from Hansung University Station to a depot in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, went off the track at around 5:12 a.m. when the wheels of the first carriage got derailed. At the time it was running between Sookmyung Women's University and Samgakji stations.

There were no casualties as the train was empty of passengers.

Southbound trains from Seoul Station to Sadang were suspended for five hours including during rush hour. The intervals for northbound trains increased from 2-3 minutes to between 20 and 30 minutes. KORAIL said over 60 trains were either delayed or suspended.
