The top three executives at Samsung Electronics earned more than Apple CEO Tim Cook last year, the Financial Times reported Tuesday.
Samsung Electronics vice chairman Kwon Oh-hyun made W6.77 billion last year, mobile business chief Shin Jong-kyun W6.21 billion and consumer electronics division chief Yoon Boo-keun W5.1 billion (US$1=W1,058) last year. Cook earned around US$4.25 million or W4.5 billion.
But the FT said the Samsung "pay packets fall short" of the $378 million -- "nearly all in deferred stock" -- Cook received when he took over Apple after founder Steve Jobs' death in 2011.
Also, the annual salaries of the three Samsung executives fell below the average annual paychecks of the U.S. companies on the Fortune 500 list ($10.5 million in 2012).
