The cities of Seoul and Beijing will sign an agreement this week to jointly tackle air pollution in Northeast Asia.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Monday that Mayor Park Won-soon will head to China to ink the deal when he meets with Beijing mayor Wang Anshun on Thursday.
The agreement states that air pollution, including ultrafine dust, should be tackled regionally, and that both cities ought to cooperate closely on the issue. During his trip, Park will also visit China's first observatory that measures pollutants.
Smog from China is regarded as a major cause of air pollution on the Korean peninsula.
