Park So-youn ranked ninth in the ladies singles competition at the World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama, Japan on Saturday with a total score of 176.61 points.
She earned 119.39 points in the free skate and 57.22 points in the short program.
It was the best performance by a Korean at the worlds since recently retired star Kim Yun-na claimed the title twice in 2009 and 2013.
At the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics in February, Park came 21st with 142.97 points.
Japan's Mao Asada seized her third ladies singles gold at the worlds with 216.69 points.
