Disgraced Hanwha Chief Flies to U.S. for Treatment

Disgraced Hanwha Group chairman Kim Seung-youn left for the U.S. for medical treatment on Thursday despite being on probation for a corruption conviction here.

Early this week Kim was released from Seoul National University Hospital and continued treatment as an outpatient, staying at his home in Gahoe-dong. He flew to the U.S. on a company plane.

Kim was released on probation on Feb. 19 after the courts found him guilty of corruption. He was sentenced to community service but asked for postponement of the sentence, citing health reasons.
