The daytime high in Seoul is expected to reach 22 degrees Celsius on Thursday, with warm weather expected to persist for the time being, the Korea Meteorological Administration forecast on Wednesday.
There will also be some dust storms in the Seoul metropolitan area.
Dongducheon just north of Seoul and Daegu in the southeast will see temperatures reach 24 and 25 degrees, according to the KMA.
The unseasonally warm weather is attributed to a warm air mass just north of the Korean Peninsula, while clear weather has caused the sun to heat up the ground.
Temperatures in central parts were five to 10 degrees higher than usual on Tuesday at 17 to 23 degrees, while the daytime high in Seoul reached 21.9 degrees, the warmest so far this year.
The National Institute of Environmental Research forecast that fine dust particles in Seoul and Gangwon, Chungcheong and Gyeongsang provinces will reach slightly bad levels of 81~120 ㎍/㎥ on Thursday.
