Ryu Hyun-jin notched up a win for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second game of the season-opening series against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Sydney, Australia on Saturday. It was the pitcher's first appearance in his second year with the Major League Baseball club.
He gave up two hits and one walk and struck out five in five shutout innings. The Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks 7-5, winning both games of the series.
In order to expand the base of the sport internationally, MLB decided to hold this year's curtain raiser in Australia. The first game of the season in the U.S. will take place at Petco Park in San Diego when the Dodgers and Padres meet on March 30.
