MBC is working on a sequel to its 2004 global hit "Jewel in the Palace" most likely to star Lee Young-ae again.
Kim Young-hyun, who is writing the script, said Thursday that the new series is scheduled to air in October. Last year, MBC President Kim Jong-guk said at a conference that the broadcaster would pursue the production of a sequel "in the first half of 2015."
Lee Young-ae's agency said, "We haven't signed a formal contract, but we received a synopsis in January and are positively considering it. She will probably be part of the project."
The agency added that the response among Chinese fans has been tremendous, and a number of companies there offered to invest in the sequel and asked about sales rights.
