'Avengers' Sequel to Start Filming in Seoul This Month

Filming for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" will take place in and around Seoul from March 30 to mid-April. Marvel Studios and the Korean Film Council, along with the Korea Tourism Organization, have agreed to shoot some sequences of the film in the capital.

Seoul is expected to feature in about 20 minutes of the two-hour movie. Locations include several bridges over the Han River, such as Jamsil and Mapo bridges, as well as some streets in upscale areas. The Digital Media City complex in Sangam-dong, and Yongsan, where a U.S. military base is located, are also listed as shooting locations.

Related film bodies and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency are currently discussing ways to minimize the inconvenience for local citizens, as the areas listed will have to be blocked off during shooting. The studio plans to spend roughly US$10 million for the privilege of shooting in Seoul.

The film will be released in the summer of 2015.
