Former Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik added his name to the list of candidates hoping to become Seoul's next mayor by announcing on Sunday that he is running for the post.
Kim served under former President Lee Myung-bak.
If he wants to make it on the final ballot under the ruling Saenuri Party banner, he will first have to beat out a competitive field of candidates, notably seven-term lawmaker Chung Mong-joon.
The Saenuri Party is expected to pick a single candidate to run in the election by April 25.
Seoul citizens will take to the voting booths on June 4 to pick their next mayor.
