Hacking Attack Exposes Private Data of 10 Million People

The personal information of over 10 million people was leaked in a hacking attack on the website of Korea Telecom. The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency said a hacker identified as Kim stole the data with a program of his own devising since February in 2013.

The head and an executive of a telemarketing company were also arrested for earning over W11.5 billion (US$1=W1,065) using the personal data.

The leaked information involves around 12 million of the website's 16 million subscribers and includes their names, resident registration numbers, telephone numbers, the type and model year of their cellphones, and bank account numbers.
