President Park Geun-hye on Monday met with dozens of VIPs, including former U.S. President George W. Bush, ex-Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama and former Australian PM Julia Gillard. She also met the last East German Prime Minister Lothar de Maizière and ex-Singaporean leader Goh Chok-tong.
They are in Seoul for the Asian Leadership Conference hosted by the Chosun Ilbo and TV Chosun.
Park invited Bush to Cheong Wa Dae later for a separate meeting where she thanked him for efforts to "strengthen the Korea-U.S. alliance" and "promote world peace."
Bush gave Park a copy of his autobiography, "Decision Points." Park said she noted how Bush hailed the Seoul-Washington alliance in the book as symbolizing "shared common values and strategic benefits."
