The women's short track team of Cho Ha-ri, Kim A-lang, Park Seung-hi and Shim Suk-hee will hunt for gold in the 3,000-m relay on Tuesday in Sochi, Russia.
Cho and Park were part of the team four years ago that came first in the final but was disqualified for impeding eventual champion China. This ended Korea's 16-year grip on the crown after it first won the title at the 1994 Lillehammer Games and kept it for four consecutive Olympics.
However, the title appears to be theirs for the taking this time around as the women's team picked up three out of four World Cup events this season. They also had the best semifinal time of 4:08.52 ahead of Canada (4:08.871), China (4:09.555) and Italy (4:11.282) in Sochi.
Shim, the youngest member of the team, said, "I really want to win the relay more than anything. I want to be on the top of the podium with my teammates as we've all worked really hard together."
