Lee Sang-hwa Loses Out on 2nd Medal

Speed skater Lee Sang-hwa failed to collect another medal at the Sochi Olympics after successfully defending her title in the women's 500 m on Tuesday.

Lee came a poor 12th in the women's 1,000-m event at the Adler Arena Skating Center with a time of 1:15.94 minutes.

China's Zhang Hong claimed the gold after clocking in at 1:14.02 minutes, and Ireen Wüst of the Netherlands the silver with 1:14.69 minutes. Another Dutch skater, Margot Boer, took the bronze with 1:14.90 minutes.

Lee's boyfriend Lee Sang-yeop, who took military leave to make a surprise visit to the Russian city to support her, watched her race at the center.
