Chinese speed skater Wang Beixing fell out of contention for a medal at her signature 500 m race on Tuesday, but still won over some Korean fans for the way in which she celebrated the victory of rival Lee Sang-hwa.
Lee successfully defended her Olympic crown in the event and set an Olympic record in the process, while Wang, who was ranked world No. 2 in this discipline this season by the International Skating Union, finished seventh with a combined time of 75.68 seconds.
The two skated together as the penultimate pair in the second race. Afterwards, Wang, a bronze medalist from the 2010 Vancouver Games, caught the eyes of Korean fans as she was seen holding Lee's hands with a big smile on her face as they left the Adler Arena Skating Center.
