Job Growth Hits 12-Year High in January

The number of employed people rose by over 700,000 last month from the previous January, the largest annual jump in 12 years.

Statistics Korea on Wednesday said that some 24.76 million people were employed in January, up 705,000 compared to the same month in 2013.

The number of employed people has been rising since last May, surging by around 500,000 in November and December.

Among young people aged 15 to 29, 74,000 more people found jobs last month from a year earlier, marking the biggest growth since February 2002.
