Speed skater Lee Sang-hwa, who defended her Olympic title in the women's 500 m on Tuesday, will receive a W60 million tax-free reward from the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation for her efforts (US$1=W1,062).

Gold medalists also receive a monthly pension of W1 million from the government.

But the limit is set at W1 million per medalist, so more trophies do not translate into a higher pension.

This means Lee's monthly pension will remain limited to W1 million even though she now has two Olympic gold medals.
