No Medal for Mo Tae-bum as He Signs Off on Sochi

Mo Tae-bum concluded his races at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics without any medals on Wednesday, when he finished 12th in the men's 1,000-m speed skating with a time of 1:09.37 minutes.

The gold medal went to the Netherlands once again, as Stefan Groothuis, who finished fourth at Vancouver four years ago, posted a winning time of 1:08.39.

Canada's Denny Morrison claimed silver by clocking 1:08.43 and Michel Mulder of the Netherlands (1:08.74) added a bronze medal to his collection after winning gold in the 500-m event two days earlier.

Two-time Olympic champion Shani Davis of the U.S., who was favored to win this event, had to settle for eighth after only managing 1:09.12.

This is a disappointing result for Mo, who hoped to replicate his impressive run from the Vancouver Games, where he won the men's 500 m and came second in the 1,000 m.
