Volkswagen unveiled a plug-in diesel hybrid in Korea on Monday that can deliver up to 111.1 km per liter on a fully charged battery.
The ultra-light XL1 is equipped with a 0.8-liter, 2-cylinder diesel engine that can produce 48 horsepower and a 27-horsepower electric motor.
The carmaker will conduct test trials and showcases in Korea before launching the model on the market. It plans to sell some 250 units in Europe this year with the price tag of 110,000 euros.
