U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is likely to visit Seoul and Beijing next month ahead of President Barack Obama's tour of Northeast Asia.
Diplomatic sources here said Kerry is expected to discuss North Korea during the trip, along with the territorial and historical issues that have ratcheted up tensions in the region in recent months.
Kerry visited Japan last April on a similar tour of the region, but there is speculation that he may bypass Tokyo this time around citing a "tight schedule."
