The government recently finalized a series of measures to stabilize prices ahead of one the nation's biggest holidays, and officials will continue to monitor the daily prices of various goods to keep them in check in the coming week.
Twenty-eight items are on this year's checklist, including apples, pears, rice, cabbage and other seasonal products.
In another effort ahead of the Lunar New Year, more than 2,000 marketplaces where farmers directly offer regional produce at discounted prices will be open to the public across the country.
Meanwhile, health authorities are assuring the public that emergency medical services will be available 24 hours a day during the holiday. Special designated pharmacies will also be open around the clock.
Public health agencies have also strengthened management systems for infectious diseases as millions of Koreans head to their hometowns ahead of the major flu season.
