Apple plans to release two new smartphone models with larger screens similar to Samsung's Galaxy Note, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.
They are expected to measure between 4.5-5 inches or above.
The Note, a trailblazer in the so-called "phablet" market of smartphone-tablet hybrids, has been hugely popular in Asia including China, the world's largest smartphone market. It is one of two flagship smartphones through which Samsung has been competing with Apple.
The rivalry between the Galaxy S and iPhone has largely defined the smartphone market in recent years, but the Note has enjoyed widespread popularity due to its large-screen feature.
