A video showing a race between speed skater Lee Sang-hwa, who is eyeing a second gold medal at the upcoming Sochi Olympics, and Kia's K5 Turbo is creating a buzz on YouTube.
The clip shows Lee finishing the 50-m sprint in 6.05 seconds, 0.55 seconds faster than the K5 sedan that delivers 271 horsepower. It received 225,000 views on the video-sharing site in just eight days.
Kia created the clip to support Lee's title defense while riding the wave of Olympic fever. The carmaker said it hopes the move bolsters her confidence.
The automaker will also pick a winner among fans who post messages of support for Lee on its Facebook page and offer him or her a ticket to watch Lee compete in Sochi.
Since 2004, Kia has sponsored 200 skaters including 18 Korean speed skaters and many more up-and-comers in over 30 countries. Lee has served as a model for the brand.
