Koo Ja-cheol officially joined FSV Mainz 05 in Germany's Bundesliga on Monday at the team's Coface Arena.

"I heard a lot about Mainz 05 from my national teammate Park Joo-ho, so I've long wanted to come to Mainz," he said, adding that he hopes to keep growing as a player in order to better serve the team.

Koo posed for photos at the ground wearing the club's red uniform and handling the ball. He transferred from Wolfsburg on a four-year deal for a reported transfer fee of 5 million euros.

He took the train from northern Germany to Mainz in the southwest of the country on Saturday and featured in a tune-up match against third-tier side Saarbrucken the next day.

"I'm confident about making shots on goal and I prefer to play as an attacking midfielder," he said. "I'm also confident about my work rate. I can run a lot and contribute to defense to help my teammates out."
