Pro golfer Ahn Shi-hyun agreed to a two-year sponsorship deal with local whisky brand Golden Blue on Monday as she plans her comeback this year.
During her more than two years away from the sport she married TV celebrity Marco, had a child and got divorced.
"I will do my best to live up to the support that I get from the people who believe in me," said Ahn. "I decided to come back to golf so that I can be a proud mom."
"I won't be able to focus on taking care of my daughter once I'm back on the tour, but I'll spend as much time as possible with her when I'm not competing. It will be tough, but I'll work hard and focus on these two priorities," said Ahn, who was close to tears.
Ahn won the CJ Nine Bridges Classic in 2003 and one year later collected the US LPGA tour's Rookie of the Year award. She kept playing on the tour until 2011, when she announced that she was taking a temporary leave to get married.
The couple divorced last June and Ahn competed as an invitee at the ADT Caps Championship in November.
