Salvation Army Collects Record Donations

The Salvation Army collected record donations during its annual drive from Dec. 2 to 31, the charity announced Thursday.

The total was 6.32 billion (US$1=W1,051), a slight increase from 5.13 billion last year. One donor gave fine jewelry to mark her 60th birthday, another W50 million worth of unregistered bonds. An anonymous donor who only specified he lives in Singwol-dong in western Seoul made a W100 million donation, as he had done in the last two years.

On Dec 26 and 31, anonymous donors put another W100 million into the charity pot.
