Presidential Spokeswoman Resigns

Kim Haeng Kim Haeng

Presidential spokeswoman Kim Haeng tendered her resignation Tuesday, according to Cheong Wa Dae.

Kim, whose professional expertise is polling, was appointed on President Park Geun-hye's inauguration in February 2013 along with columnist Yoon Chang-jung, who was fired in May after being accused of groping an embassy intern during Park's visit to the U.S.

There is a speculation that Kim's resignation was caused by her apparently decreased role and influence as Cheong Wa Dae spokesman Lee Jung-hyun, who is known to be a close confidant of Park's, has been appearing more often amid complaints that Park is inaccessible to the press. / Jan. 02, 2014 11:54 KST
