Korea's tourism deficit is on track to log its biggest shortfall in three years as more people head overseas.
The Bank of Korea and the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute said Tuesday that the country's tourism deficit stood at US$3.26 billion in the first eleven months of the year, an increase of 26.3 percent from 2012.
Last month, the deficit was $256 million, marking the 18th straight month in the red.
With more Koreans expected to travel overseas for the holiday season at the end of this month, the deficit is expected to widen beyond the record of $3.97 billion in 2010.
