Tickets for the upcoming Korea Figure Skating Championships have all sold out. After the first round of tickets was released last Friday, the second batch went on sale at 7 p.m. on Monday through Interpark.com and was sold out within minutes.
Demand was sufficiently high to cause the site to crash even before the second round of ticketing officially began.
The Jan. 4-5 Korean nationals will feature defending Olympic champion Kim Yu-na in her last competition before the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia in February. It will also be her last competitive appearance in Korea as she plans to retire after the Olympics.
Due to the size of the venue in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, there were only 4,200 tickets that could be purchased for the nationals.
Kim's management agency All That Sports was in charge of sales, and the Korea Skating Union plans to use all the proceeds to help nurture young figure skating talents.
Tickets ranged in price from W22,000 to W33,000 (US$1=W1,055).
