Over 100,000 German cars are expected to be sold in Korea this year for the first time. This means that one in every 12 imported cars sold here is now a German brand.
According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association on Thursday, 97,851 German cars were sold as of November, up 25.3 percent from 78,066 a year ago.
As of last month some 144,092 imported cars have been sold in the country, with German models taking up 67.9 percent of the total. Based on their average monthly sales of 9,000, total annual sales of German cars are on the verge of exceeding 100,000 here.
BMW is the best-selling brand among German automakers with 30,773 units sold, followed by Volkswagen (24,226), Mercedes-Benz (22,777) and Audi (18,164).
