Lawmakers Jasmine Lee of the ruling Saenuri Party and independent lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo's close aide Song Ho-chang were named the best-dressed politicians in awards given by fashion critics which pick the best dressers in various fields.

Celebrities from all walks of life are recognized for their fashion style in the awards. Lee is the first foreign-born person to win.

Born in Manila, the Philippines, Lee married a Korean in 1995 and earned Korean citizenship in 1998. She became a party-list lawmaker in 2012.

In November this year, Lee tabled a resolution in the National Assembly calling for more help for victims of typhoon Haiyan and rebuilding in the Philippines.

"Lee's neat and simple attire received positive reviews," a member of the awards committee said.

Song was recognized for his unconventional fashion style that defies his age and job.

The awards, which takes place at the end of each year, has become one of the major events in Korea's fashion industry. This year's ceremony will be held at the Hotel Shilla on Thursday.
