Spike Lee's 'Oldboy' to Hit Korean Theaters Next Month

The Hollywood remake of "Oldboy" will open in Korea in January.

Spike Lee's version of Park Chan-wook's cult revenge thriller adopts the same basic plot of a man who is suddenly set free after being locked up for 20 years for reasons unknown to him, but adds some fresh twists.

In the remake, Josh Brolin replaces Choi Min-sik as the man looking to find his kidnapper, but it also features a new character and an equally shocking ending.

The original film, released in 2003, was the first Korean movie to win the jury prize at Cannes.
